Triump & trial Alfredo S. Lim (Part 2)

MGA papuri noon ng namayapang alkalde ng Maynila Mayor Ramon D. Bagatsing at iba pa, sa ating living legendary cop retired Major General Alfredo S. Lim of the Western Police District.

Who was chosen, Ten Outstanding Police of the Philippines (TOPP) for five consecutive years, by the Philippine JAYCEES who rose from the ranks to become major general in the WPD, Major Alfredo Siojo Lim.

Narito po bayan, ang mga paghanga at papuri ng mga yumaong matataas na opisyal ng gobyerno noon kay Mayor Fred Lim:

“…For directing an effective police operation that led to the apprehension of 500,000 fake liquor stamps worth P17.5 million smuggled to the country by an alien economic saboteur, and refusing to be bribed by the culprit in the amount of P100,000 thus, preventing an irreparable damage that could have been caused in the economic stability of the country; and in the process, displayed strength of character and a high degree of honesty and integrity worthy of emulation by Col Alfedo S. Lim not only in the service of the Metropolitan Police Force but also by all in the government service.” — Manila Mayor Ramon D.Bagatsing.

“ Col.Alfredo L. Lim is one of the best police officers ever produced by the Philippine police system. He has been chosen as one of the Ten Outstanding Policemen of the Philippines, a project sponsored by the Philippine Jaycees, consecutively for five years, from 1967 to 1971 and is that rare combination of a police officer with a brilliant mind, dedication to duty, professional capacity, and unassailable honesty.” —- Assemblyman Teodoro C. Natividad,Minister of State for Justice.

“Colonel Lim is one of the most capable, intelligent, trustworthy officers of the Integrated National Police with all the desired qualities of leadership.” —- P/Brig. Gen. Pedro F. de la Paz, former Superintendent, Western District.”

“Colonel Lim is a very good peace officer in the sense that he is an upright man who is hardworking, intelligent and he knows his work. Aside from that, he also knows so many other characters and so many good people which is very important in his profession. He is very dependable and humble. We need this kind of police officer,” —- Col. Enrique V. Morales, former chief,Manila Police Department.

“ Colonel Alfredo S.LIM is a gentleman and an officer in the true sense of the world. But the things that stands out about him is his courage which has legendary.” —P/Brig. Gen. Narciso M. Cabrera, Superintendent, Western Police District. (to be continued)
OVER A CUP OF COFFEE

TEODORO F. VALENCIA

December 29,1971, The Manila Times

“…One of the few admirable officers of the MPD is a man slated for the “freezer.” An officer whose principal sin is loyalty to the man who gave him his breaks. This man is Col. Alfredo S. Lim of Precint 8, the last man to remain by Mayor Villegas side after all his former “loyal” officers have found their way to the Bagatsing Camp. Lim is a rare bird. If he were a politician, he’s the kind who does not change parties nor turn against his party after it loses an election.
COUNTERPOINT

Benedicto David

January 14,1972, Daily Star

“ We wonder how the Jaycees feel considering that Lt. Col. Alfredo S. Lim who was chosen Outstanding Policeman for Five years running by five different boards of judges has been some sort of security man and parking lot attendant and receptionist at the Manila Police Headquarters.

We realize that the man was identified with Mayor Villegas… but that does not make him any less a good cop considering that people other than Yeba recognized his outstanding achievements in the field of police work.

To put him in the freezer, so to speak, is to waste good cop material…which the Manila Police need.” (Itutuloy)
