Julia kapag galit si Dennis — It traumatized me, that scared me

Pag-amin n’ya kay Julia sa banayad na tinig: ”That was a dagger. Hindi lang dahil sa pangalan ‘yun, ha? It’s not the pangalan itself, that’s my blood. Kaya masakit ‘yun.

You are already well known as a Barretto.

“I think everybody was coming from a painful place.”

Dagdag na paliwanag pa ng anak, ”Pa, I wish that you would also acknowledge the fact that, ‘Okay, maybe I have done something to scare my kids off.’”

Paalala pa ni Julia sa ama, ”Before, when we would speak on the phone—you know this, Pa—you wouldn’t have the best tone and the best choice of words.

“If I’m being honest—I’m gonna talk for myself, not for my siblings—of course, that scarred me. That traumatized me. Of course, that scared me.

“But you see, Pa, even despite all those painful words and actions, I still fought hard to keep a certain relationship with you.

“I didn’t ever give up on our relationship. I was never, ‘Okay, he hurt me. He traumatized me. I’m never gonna try with my relationship with him again.’

“Because if I had given up, we wouldn’t be talking right now.”

Paniniguro pa ni Julia sa kanyang ama, ”I mean, all is well and forgiven now. I’m so glad that you have a good relationship with me, Clau, and Leon, and with all of your kids now.

“I’m so proud of you. Because I saw the change after your journey with COVID and I appreciate all of our conversations now.

“Everybody’s so much humble, forgiving, understanding. I’m really proud of you. I want you to know that.

“I’m really proud of you because I saw the change of heart.”

Julia later asked what was the greatest lesson his dad learned from their past misunderstandings.

Diretsong sagot ng ama: ”’Wag muna makialam. Alamin muna puno’t dulo,” he said.

Julia also asked her dad what legacy he wanted to leave his children.

Julia added in jest.

Padilla also admitted to Julia that when he was battling COVID-19 in April, he came to the realization that he was the one to blame in his split with actress Marjorie Barretto in 2007. He also said his relationship with Marjorie had been ”rocky because of [his] attitude and temper.”

“I saw all my mistakes. It was like a dream,” he said, adding that he also thought he was already going to die.

“Actually I am the one to be blamed. Walang kasalanan ang nanay mo. Kasalanan ko ‘yun (Your mom was not at fault. That was my mistake).”
