Christopher de Leon is extremely happy that his daughter Mariel was able to bag the lead role in Coco Martin’s movie, Ang Panday.
“It’s an offer you cannot refuse. Medyo apprehensive siya when it comes to her acting. It’s in her blood, so why not?” he intoned.
“Sabi naman ni Coco,” he further averred, “aalagaan niya ‘yung anak ko, he’s a nice guy.
“She’s in safe hands, ‘yung offer as Coco Martin’s leading lady, it’s an offer you cannot refuse.
“But sabi nga ng one of my friends, even my mom said, nanggaling sa pelikula at telebisyon…
“Sa entertainment business ang pinakain mo riyan, it’s in her blood, so why not?
Christopher’s mom happen to the popular lead actress of the 1950s Lilia Dizon.
Inasmuch as Mariel’s basically a novice in the business, the multi-awarded actor believes that she can pull it through.
“She is excited, very excited about the shoot,” he quipped. “Wala, wala talaga, but this is a big offer, it’s not just one of those…
“Like in my case, they offered me Tinimbang Ka Ngunit Kulang, I didn’t say I didn’t want to be an actor.”
Any advice to their daughter who is now following in their footsteps?
“Yung mother niya laging sinasabi sa kanya, always respect the views of others,” he pleasantly intoned.
“Ako naman in all her victories, stay humble, humility in victory.
“We’ve been talking to her about how to place yourself in front of two cameras, three cameras.
“Tips on how to deliver your lines, how to use your eyes, stuff like that.
“Pag nag-uusap-usap lang in the family room, ‘yung mga gano’n-gano’n lang.”
